Engagements

They're more fun than you think!

One of the first things I hear from couples when it comes to photos is that they feel awkward and don’t know what to do in front of the camera. That’s why an engagement session is so important. It’s a great way for us to connect and interact together. It also allows you to become comfortable in front of the camera and learn how easy it can be when you relax and enjoy just being yourselves. I always encourage couples to show their personalities for this session. The wedding photos are more staged and formal to show of all your hard work.

These are to express you.

Whether it’s getting a few drinks at your favorite brewery, walking through the park where you had your first date or enjoying a pottery class and recreating that pivotal scene in Ghost. If you want to bring a pizza, your dog or your dad’s classic Chevy truck, nothing is out of the question. It’s wonderful to have casual photos to hang in your home that reflect you and your love for each other.

With so much going on in the planning process, meetings and decisions, this is a time to take in the fact that you are getting married. Enjoy the “engaged” moment for what it is. I will of course give you guidance and light direction, but I will mostly help the session to feel fluid and effortless.

As far as locations go, no place is too far or too much. I can also offer suggestions that will help to create the look you are going for. Wardrobe choices are entirely up to you. You can be casual in jeans and a tee or fancy it up with a glamorous gown and suit. The possibilities are endless.
